Pluaris App from Nowigence Brings Order to Information Overload for College Students

Monday, 13 December 2021 01:25 PM

CHARLOTTE, NC / ACCESSWIRE / December 13, 2021 / The first day of college is an eye-opener for many students across the world, as they quickly learn just how different their assignments will be from those they did in high school. Reading hundreds of pages for one class is not uncommon, and students are expected to quickly understand challenging articles that were written by academics for academics. This is compounded by the reality that in America, the average person reads at a 7th-8th grade level, perhaps one reason why the country's overall undergraduate dropout rate is 40%. Remember, too, that college admission rates in America have been falling since 2012. Is all of this interconnected? Is there a way for universities to help their students to read and comprehend faster so that graduation rates increase? Nowigence, founded by CEO Anoop Bhatia, believes the solution is Pluaris, the company's cloud-based app that allows individuals, teams, and enterprises to quickly distill knowledge from massive amounts of textual data, both public and private.

The Problem of Reading for an Increasingly Online Generation

The decline in reading abilities in America is well-documented: as recently as 2019, two-thirds of fourth- and eighth-graders did not meet the standards for the National Assessment of Educational Progress' reading standards. The situation does not improve once students reach high school. Between 2015-2019, the average reading score for high school seniors declined, with only 37% of seniors reaching or exceeding the math and reading benchmarks that would indicate they were ready for first-year university classes.

The reasons for the decline are numerous, of course, but could include the reality that an increasingly online generation has shorter attention spans and is used to information that is distilled to them quickly. Whatever the reason, reading books, especially those that are written at a high level, presents a challenge for most college students.

Nowigence Chief Technology Officer Gordon Haupt says, "At our universities, the supply of information far exceeds the capabilities of many students to process it. They must keep up with workloads that feel impossible because of the amount of required reading."

Nowigence Founder and CEO Anoop Bhatia says, "With deep reading, especially at the college level, becoming more challenging, there is an increasing demand by students for AI technology that can synthesize information and present it to them in an easily understandable way. We believe that our technology, Pluaris, is what students need, and this can help to change the reality that 30% of the college dropout rate comes from freshmen who leave before their sophomore year. Simply put, Pluaris can help more students stay in school."

With Pluaris, Nowigence states that students will be able to read and assimilate knowledge faster. Its patentable, proprietary AI technologies automatically read data from hundreds of millions of documents in seconds with human-level comprehension and understanding of text, with key highlights summarized. The technology, which operates in real-time and is fully automated, mimics the process by which humans read and comprehend, meaning that it can adapt to the individual's needs rather than impose a structure or rigid methodology.

Nowigence Board Member, Acting CFO, and General Counsel David L. Evans explains, "Students will be able to read and learn more efficiently because Pluaris searches, summarizes, cross compares documents, and creates notes. It fetches answers from the web but also brings forth clarifications from previously uploaded or learned content to help students to grasp concepts. Routine reading comprehension tasks are offset, so users can retell the content in their own ways, helping them to retain knowledge while spending less time reading."

By Giving Students the Ability to Read Faster, Graduation Rates at Universities May Rise.

As our world goes deeper into the digital age, the demands on college students will continue to grow. They will need more resources so that they can read more quickly, comprehend what they are learning, and get the most out of their education. Supplying students with technology like Pluaris may ultimately help to lower the drop-out rate and give them the motivation and ability to pursue their degrees in a world that increasingly demands an educated workforce.
